Germany updates its list of high-risk areas as of 11 February 2022
Published on: 12 February 2022

Germany has modified its list of risk and high risk areas. The list was published on February 11th, 2022, and will come into effect on February 13th, 2022.

In the new list, there are no new areas of variants of concern. Only new high risk areas: Iran and the Solomon Islands. If you’ve stayed in these countries in the last 10 days and need to travel to Germany, you must be ready to fill out the digital registration on entry and present proof of vaccination, proof of recovery, or a test result to show that you don’t have an active COVID-19 infection.

If you can’t do this, you will be required to self-isolate for 10 days at home unless you submit one of these documents not earlier than on the 5th day of your mandatory travel quarantine.

These measures apply to all passengers over 6 years old.

In spite of Germany’s international travel restrictions —which are still rather strict in comparison to what other European countries are doing—, travel agencies expect a summer with much more tourism in the country than last year. Furthermore, everyday restrictions may be eased in the near future as the Omicron wave stabilizes.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz recently said in the Burderstrat that German authorities will be listening to scientific advice to make a decision on further steps.
